Riding Lesson Consent Form

By completing this form you agree to the terms below:

• I understand and accept that working with horses and riding at any standard has a risk and that all horses may react unpredictably on occasions.
• I understand that my child/young person may fall off and be injured. I accept that risk.
• We understand that all instructions are given for safety reasons and that they need to be followed when given by staff whilst on site and/or under their supervision
• We understand that wearing a fitted hat and body protector and gloves may reduce the severity of an injury should an accident happen and agree that my child/young person will always wear a fitted riding hat whilst riding. In addition a riding hat will always be worn when turning horses out, taking them through gateways and in any other situation where staff deem wearing a hat will reduce risk. Body protectors are mandatory whilst riding but optional when leading and grooming.
• Body protector (must be of an appropriate standard if participating in cross-country or show-jumping activities or events). Riding hat, fitted by a professional, must meet a recognised current safety standard, such as PAS 015:2011 or EN 1384:2023, carry an appropriate safety mark (e.g. BSI Kitemark or equivalent). Suitable riding boots must be worn (not yard boots); these may be long or short, although chaps or gaiters are strongly advised when wearing short boots. Gloves when riding. Legwear such as riding tights, jodhpurs, breeches, or other close-fitting, comfortable trousers, with jeans not permitted. Suitable tops should be worn with arms covered (no short-sleeved tops).
• We understand that Elysian will make decisions based on information I give them about my child/young person's
  • Abilities and riding experience
  • Any previous riding accidents
  • Any medical conditions which may affect the ability to ride
  • Any changes to medical conditions and medications
• We understand that Elysian may refuse a request to ride or participate in any activity for safety or operational reasons.
• I understand I need to get my young person's head measured every year to ensure the hat is still fitted. I also understand that I need to replace the hat should it be involved in any accident, incident or environment that may cause damage.
• I accept that all personal riding equipment must go home each day and Elysian accepts no responsibility or liability for loss, damage or theft.
